Laurel brings a range of experiences to Community Foundations of Canada, including language education, research, translation, program and project management, and policy analysis. She has had opportunities to broaden her horizons through work in Alberta, New Brunswick, Spain, and Guatemala.
Laurel volunteers as a dance teacher with various communities, and has written and translated for the Guatemalan human rights and development magazine EntreMundos since 2011.
Variety is the spice of life for Laurel – you might find her knitting a wacky pair of socks, practicing the guitar, exploring a new running trail, or salsa dancing. A deep dislike for sitting still often leads to adventuring in the great outdoors.
As Director of Leadership Initiatives and Governance, Laurel works closely with CFC’s management team and Board to activate leadership opportunities for CFC and the 191 as a movement.
