Established in 1937, McConnell engages Canadians in building a more innovative, inclusive, sustainable, and resilient society. The Foundation’s purpose is to enhance Canada’s ability to address complex social, environmental and economic challenges.
McConnell and Community Foundations of Canada have collaborated over the years to leverage each other’s assets, knowledge, skills and networks. Since the launch of our national 2013 Vital Signs report, which highlighted the importance of food in our communities, we have been working together as part of a Pan-Canadian Food Funder collaborative. In addition, we have collaborated on explorations around Indigenous-led social enterprise, and most recently on a Future Cities Canada initiative (along with Evergreen and Maison de l’innovation sociale). Future Cities Canada brings together people, ideas, platforms and innovations from across sectors to find new and collaborative ways to address the challenges facing cities.
