Don Tapscott headlines inaugural Community Knowledge Exchange Summit

Partners from every sector exploring community knowledge as a tool for social change

OTTAWA, Nov. 18, 2014 – The Ontario Trillium Foundation and Community Foundations of Canada are proud to present the inaugural Community Knowledge Exchange (CKX) Summit, an event in Toronto that will bring together a host of partners, people and organizations from all sectors to harness the power of community knowledge for social change.

The CKX Summit, taking place November 19-21 in the heart of Toronto’s Entertainment District at the TIFF Bell Lightbox and the CBC Broadcast Centre, will immerse more than 400 participants in a collective experience focused on the exchange of ideas and knowledge about our communities.

The Summit will be an opportunity for leaders and community change-makers from across Canada to explore how to use research to make more informed decisions, tell stories to demonstrate impact, and share examples of community knowledge in action.

The event will feature more than 50 workshops, interactive installations and participatory experiences. A number of Summit highlights include:

CKX Solutions Lab: Powered by IBM and co-curated by the Toronto Foundation and MaRS Solutions Lab

The CKX Solutions Lab will allow participants to apply tools and techniques from various fields like social innovation, design thinking, change management and social movement theory to move the agenda forward on three specific issue areas: Housing, Food Security and Youth Employment.

City: Keynote Address by Don Tapscott presented by Manulife Asset Management

Best-selling author, strategist and disruptive thinker Don Tapscott will share a radically new concept of the city and unpack how we can unlock data, knowledge and ideas to create vibrant and open communities.

#CultureShock Debate: The Impact of Arts and Culture on Canadian Citizens and Communities presented by CAPACOA and Culture Days

Thursday November 20, 2:45pm – 4:00pm – TIFF Bell Lightbox – Cinema 4
This provocative Oxford-style debate, moderated by Simon Brault, Director and CEO of the Canada Council for the Arts, will spark discussion on how we understand the value and impact of arts and cultural participation on Canadian citizens and communities.
