A word of welcome from our hosts

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the Victoria Foundation, it is our distinct pleasure to extend a warm invitation to attend next year’s Community Foundations of Canada conference, taking place in Victoria from June 6-8, 2019.  We are thrilled to have the opportunity to host this unparalleled gathering of community philanthropy in Canada.

Whether you have been to Victoria before or not, you are in for a treat. From our host event at the Royal British Columbia Museum, to unique cultural experiences honouring traditional First Nations territory and cultures, our goal as host city is to showcase all that Southern Vancouver Island has to offer and help create a memorable conference experience!

For our part, the Victoria Foundation is “All In” for the conference and for our community foundation movement. Following two years featuring “belonging”, we’ve shifted our focus of Victoria’s Vital Signs to the SDGs this year, aligning our indicator data to the goals. Building upon many years working with First Nations individuals, organizations and governments, our work to support reconciliation continues, most recently though such things as helping to establish the country’s first Aboriginal Coalition to End Homelessness, and supporting the creation of a unique Indigenous law field school at the University of Victoria. And just wait until you see our new Food Security Distribution Centre!

Together with our network of community foundations up and down Vancouver Island, we’re excited and anxious to connect with you on these and many more initiatives.

We look forward to welcoming you next year!
